Judy Grove Circle

The third Monday of every month from September to June

Our Judy Grove Circle is a women's group, of all ages, dedicated to fostering fellowship and community engagement. We meet at 11:30 for lunch and a program each third Monday from September through June. We take turns hosting or enjoy a restaurant meal together.

Each September, we plan our yearly schedule together based upon everyone’s ideas and initiatives. Our calendar usually includes a church cleaning project, a book study, a service project or two, and other fun. We’ve been known to do chair yoga together, volunteer at a free clothing closet, and put together Thanksgiving baskets for needy families. We also have a card ministry here at CUMC: Every church participant receives an Easter and a Christmas card from us, along with caring notes of sympathy and encouragement.

Vespers

Sunday Nights at 5:30pm

Rev. Bill Amundsen leads Vespers here at CUMC Sunday nights at 5:30pm. It’s an ecumenical book study which explores a theological issue from a progressive Christian perspective. Bringing together thinking from different denominational traditions makes for thoughtful discussion. It’s a great sign of our unity in Christ and the perfect place to mature in godly thinking while building lifelong friendships.

This group takes a summer break and resumes in September. They are currently studying The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus by Amy-Jill Levine.
